The University of Ilorin has banned the
sale of hand-out by lecturers to students of the university. The
Management had earlier banned the sale, but are still using this medium
to remind the lecturers and students that the Ban still stands.
The
Deputy Vice-Chancellor said, “Let me use this opportunity to remind
everybody that the University’s position on the sales of hand-outs,
journals, and lecturers’ publication is still in force. No staff should
sell his/her hand-out to students under any guise. They can only be
recommended. The University Bookshop is there as the appropriate point
of sales of such materials”.

She
appealed to everybody to join hands with the University Administration
to keep the flag of the University flying high, saying, “We can’t afford
to turn back”.
The Deputy
Vice-Chancellor said that the programme had achieved its purpose, but
staff should do more if they need to be like others, adding, “Some two
years ago, the University upgraded its bandwidth with N2 million to STM4
to facilitate teaching, learning and research”. She, however, added
that “the University notes that the resources have not been maximally
utilised by the entire University community.”
