The incident which has thrown the
school into gloom, according to Tribune, occurred when the students were
returning to the school after their mid-term break on Sunday, October 30, 2016.
The deceased students have been
identified as Olubukola John, SS3; Taibat Giwa, SS3; Mojisola Ladipo, SS1 and
Mariam Ibirogba, a JSS 3 students, while five other students sustained serious
degrees of injuries and have been admitted to a hospital in the town.
The Public Relations Officer of the
school, Akin Omitade who confirmed the incident, said the accident happened
near a market when an overloaded truck carrying bags of foodstuffs lost its
balance while trying to negotiate a narrow bend in the busy market.
The truck, according to
eyewitnesses, fell on the mini-bus conveying the students to the school,
killing four of them and the driver of the bus instantly.
“The students were returning to school from the mid-term break. They were already in Oyo town and boarded the mini-bus at the garage ahead of the 6pm resumption deadline.

Residents of the area have therefore
appealed to the government to help in repairing the dilapidated road by
expanding it or even relocating the market to another place to avoid a
